Difference between Heat and Temperature                                                          GO BACK

  1. Heat is a form of Energy measure in joules, while Temperature is not a form of energy but a measure of degree of heat. And is measure in Kelvin (K) or  Degree Fahrenheit  or Degree centigrade.
  2. Heat flows from area of high temperature to an area of low temperature, while Temperature does not flow. Temperature only changes when there is changes in heat.
  3. Heat can do some work and converted to another form of energy like the one in internal combustion engine that is being converted to mechanical(kinetic) energy, while temperature cannot do work .
  4. Temperature can be measured with thermometers while heat can be calculated from temperature and not measure.

Hence Heat and Temperature are related with the Equation

Heat = mass x specific heat capacity x temperature changes

H=mcɸ
