Art Therapy Clinical Case Study (Part 1), Art as Therapy, Instruction, Positive Psychology
26 views
How do we introduce our clients to a picture task?
Watch this video to get an idea of how much information a client needs to get motivated to draw or paint something that becomes therapeutic, art as therapy.
In this three-part series, Rob Gray introduces the topic of an early childhood experience, something very positive about your early childhood. This experience can get reactivated in art 'in' therapy as demonstrated in Part 2.
In Part 2, Rob works with a student to investigate how to work with the unconscious to uncover the inner childhood resource. The third and final part is a story of how this technique was used with a real client.
This video belongs to a three-part series, so make sure you follow up on this video by watching:

A Good Art Therapist Allows Struggle | Introduction to Art Therapy
26 views
This video presents the struggle we often have assisting our clients, as answers are not readily available. However, this struggle is an opportunity for change, as it presents the basis of being a human being.
Art therapists, psychologists, social workers and counsellors alike, need to be patient and allow the clients to find their own answers. Overly focusing on diagnosis can sometimes cut short the time our clients need to explore their individual journeys. Art therapy done well needs to be an agent for long-term change.

Provost Lecture Series: Art Therapy by Carol Hammal
18 views
Teapot Trust art therapist Macie answers your questions.
Well, being an art therapist is a protected title, meaning that not just anyone can call themselves an art therapist, you need to have followed a specific training. First, folk complete an undergraduate degree in subject relevant to art therapy, such as art or psychology. Then, you must complete a masters degree in art therapy, where the focus is on gaining knowledge and skills specific to being an art therapist. Once you complete this training then you must register with the governing bodies British Association of Art Therapists (BAAT) and the Healthcare Professions Council (HCPC) who make sure that all art therapists are working to a high standard.
