Temperatures Scales Conversion
The Upper And Lower Fixed Point Of Thermometers
The Upper fixed point
The Upper fixed point is the temperature of pure water boiling at normal atmospheric pressure
The lower fixed point
The lower fixed point is the temperature of a mixture of pure ice and water at normal atmospheric pressure.
Temperature scale conversion
Temperatures can be measured in Kelvin K, Centigrade C or Fahrenheit F
At boiling water temperature(upper fixed point), K =373, C=100 and F = 212
At mixture of ice and water temperature (lower fixed point) k= 273, C =0 and F=32
Therefore,
At unknown temperature in between boiling water temperature(upper fixed point) and mixture of ice and water temperature(lower fixed point),
Therefore,
To convert Degree Centigrade to Fahrenheit
Also
To covert Degree Centigrade to Kelvin
And
To convert Kelvin to Fahrenheit
Example
Calculate the equivalent of
Solution
= 273 +40 = 313K
And 273 + 60 = 333K
