In MLB The Show 26, Parallel Mods completely change how you level up your cards. Instead of a flat +1 boost per level, you now get specialized boosts that target specific attributes. These mods unlock at Parallel I (Silver), Parallel III (Gold), and Parallel V (Diamond). For catchers and infielders, the right mod depends on whether your card needs defensive upgrades to reach certain animation thresholds or if it’s already elite in defense and needs hitting power.
Recommended Mods by Position
Catcher (C)
- Priority: Fielding / Arm
- Top Tier Mod: Fielding Speed or Fielding
- Why: Pop-time and blocking stats are critical. A Fielding mod helps your catcher control the run game and improve throwing animations.
Shortstop (SS)
- Priority: Fielding / Speed
- Top Tier Mod: Fielding or Speed
- Why: Middle infielders benefit from faster reaction times and improved range. Diamond Fielding badges can unlock smoother fielding animations for quick double plays.
3rd Base (3B)
- Priority: Reaction / Arm
- Top Tier Mod: Fielding Power
- Why: A stronger reaction stat helps snag “hot shots,” while arm boosts improve long throws across the diamond.
2nd Base (2B)
- Priority: Balance / Speed
- Top Tier Mod: Speed or Fielding
- Why: Enhances range, double-play turn speed, and overall mobility. Fielding mods are excellent if your card struggles defensively.
1st Base (1B)
- Priority: Hitting / Contact Power
- Top Tier Mod: Contact Power
- Why: Defense is less critical here. Focus on maximizing offensive output with hitting-based mods.
Tier Breakdown for Fielders
- Silver (500 PXP): Unlocks first. Use for small boosts in a weak area, like Contact or Fielding.
- Gold (3,000 PXP): Often requires completing stat milestones. Fielding Speed is popular for middle infielders and catchers to boost mobility and defense simultaneously.
- Diamond (10,000 PXP): Massive boosts. A Fielding mod can give +13 to all fielding stats and +5 speed, while a Speed mod may give +20 speed/stealing with smaller hits to fielding or hitting stats.
Strategy Tips
- Check the “Delta”: Use tools like ShowZone to compare your mod vs the standard +5 flat boost. If a key stat is already near 125, the flat boost might outperform a specialized mod.
- DH Exception: If your infielder mainly plays as a DH, skip fielding mods. Equip Contact Power to maximize hitting stats with a +9 boost.
- Swap Anytime: Mods are flexible. You can switch them in the Progress or Team Build tabs before games to suit the opponent or game mode.
Using the right Parallel Mods can turn your infield into a defensive powerhouse or your catcher into a gold-standard game controller. Check your card’s strengths, plan your boosts, and swap mods strategically for the best results.
