It is in that Image that Man and Woman are created -- indicating, perhaps, that it is (1) through speech that we participate in the creation of the cosmos of experience and (2) that what true speech creates is good. It is a predicate of Western culture that each individual partakes in some manner in the divine. This is the true significance of consciousness, which has a world-creating aspect. In Jeremiah, in Hebrew, 'Ir-me-yahoo' or 'E-anemias' in Latin. The Hebrew name Jeremiah may mean 'The Lord exalts' or 'The Lord establishes.' It may refer to the fact that Jeremiah was one of the few individuals mentioned in the Bible as being set apart by God before his birth for a special mission and purposes. He was born in the city of Anatot, about 5 km northeast of Jerusalem. His father, Eu quis, was one of the priests in Anatot, in the land of Benjamin, and was part of the Southern Kingdom of Judah. Jeremiah's ministry began in the 13th year of King Josiah and continued during the last five kings of Judah, in a period of about 40 years. Josiah was one of the most righteous kings of Judah, who implemented various reforms. When he died, Jeremiah bitterly lamented him. After Josiah, four unjust kings ruled: Jehoahaz, Jehoiakim, Jehoiachin, and finally, Zedekiah, who were on the throne when the Babylonian forces destroyed Jerusalem and burned a temple. The Book of Jeremiah is the longest of the prophetic books. To give you an idea, if you combine the twelve minor prophet books, it is only a third of Jeremiah. Jeremiah's life, Jeremiah lived in the last days of the Southern Kingdom of Judah. He consistently warned of an imminent disaster caused by the nation's neglect of true religion, its return to pagan practices, and its social injustice. Because of his terrible predictions against Judah, Jeremiah was continually subjected to persecution, ridicule, and hostility from kings and rulers. He was thrown into a pit full of mud or sewage. Jeremiah was not the only prophet of his time, as Habakkuk and Zephaniah were among his contemporaries. He also overlapped with the time of Ezekiel, who was in captivity in Babylon. It is impressive that the substance of the messages proclaimed by Jeremiah and Ezekiel was similar, despite one prophesying in Palestine and the other in Babylon. Historical background of Jeremiah, during Jeremiah's ministry, in 612 BC, Syria was defeated by Babylon, which became the dominant military power. Nebuchadnezzar's army partially destroyed Jerusalem in 604 BC and took creative people to Babylon. In the first part of the three main removals, the second group of exiles was taken to Babylon in 597 BC. And the third and final removal occurred around 586 BC when Jerusalem was burned and destroyed. During these invasions, Jeremiah was duly protected and received freedom and provisions from the invading army captain. Later, Jeremiah was taken against his will, along with his secretary Baruch and the daughters of King Zedekiah. They escaped and returned to the land of Judah. His final fate is not clearly recorded in the Bible. Jeremiah's message, Jeremiah was appointed as the prophet to the nations and to all the kingdoms of the world. He was specially sent to help Israel, although much of his message was directed at the people of Judah. He was also instructed to prophesy to the nation of Israel. This has special significance, as the ten northern tribes of Israel were punished and captured in 722 BC, about a hundred years before Jeremiah began his ministry. Why is this fact significant? It is illogical to imagine that his prophecies refer to ancient Israel before the captivity of Israel in 722 BC. This would be like predicting the First or Second World War long after they had passed, for example, passages in Jeremiah clearly refer to the period before Christ's return at the end of this current era of human government. It is evident that there is a warning message for the modern descendants of the people of Israel through Jeremiah. #biblestories #prophetjeremiah #jeremiahhistory

In this video I’m answering the question; Will Jesus raise the cremated? Or another way of wording this is, what happens to those who were cremated at the resurrection of the second coming of Jesus Christ? I’ll start off by saying that God has not given us any specific direction, revelation, or a direct command as to what happens to Christians who were cremated. There is nothing in the bible to point to specifically to answer this question. There are some verses we can point to for guidance, however, and this is also a topic I’ve discussed at great lengths within the Christian community before. A verse I want to share with you is Genesis 3:19, which reads: “....you return to the ground, for out of it you were taken; for you are dust, and to dust you shall return.” This verse is telling us that our physical bodies came from dust, and shall return to dust after death. Whether that’s through cremation or just the general decomposition over time, it’s a clear message that it’s not the preservation of our physical bodies after death that matters. After all, there are various things that can happen to bodies after death that are out of our control, too. Another way I’ve heard this question answered before is simply that when Jesus comes from heaven and metamorphosizes millions of bodies and works the miracle of resurrection, it’s hard to believe he doesn’t have the power to resurrect cremated bodies. What happened after someone died according to the bible? Cremation was practiced in biblical times, but it was not commonly practiced by the Israelites or New Testament believers. In the culture of biblical times, burial was the most common way of resting a body after death. Bodies were often laid to rest in tombs, as Jesus was buried, or in caves, and in the ground. While burial was the most common practice, nowhere in the bible does is command burial as the only method of disposing of a body. Do Christians believe in cremation? Despite the bible not giving a command on whether or not we should cremate the dead, some Christians object to cremation. They say that God will not be able to resurrect the body of someone who has been cremated and re-unite them with their souls and spirit. I see some Christians pointing to 1 Corinthians 15:35-55 to make this point, which reads: “It is the same way with the resurrection of the dead. Our earthly bodies are planted in the ground when we die, but they will be raised to live forever. Our bodies are buried in brokenness, but they will be raised in glory. They are buried in weakness, but they will be raised in strength. They are buried as natural human bodies, but they will be raised as spiritual bodies. For just as there are natural bodies, there are also spiritual bodies.” However, as I already touched on, whether a body has been cremated or not, it’s no more difficult for God to resurrect that body and re-unite it with its soul. What I say is that Christians who died and were buried thousands of years ago will be more than dust at this point, so how is that any different than being cremated? I’ll end by saying that the question of cremation or burial is within the realm of Christian freedom, it’s a choice a person should make with the blessing of their loved ones.
